Internet marketing guru Robin Gurney shared his expertise on Internet marketing to entrepreneurs and students on February 16, 2013 at the JJ’s Seafood Village. Gurney, who is now residing in Anda, Bohol with his family, is in the internet marketing business since 1997. He has worked as creative or strategic director on hundreds of internet projects for BBC, Adidas, British and Estonian governments and numerous banks, retail and tourism organisations. He has lectured at numerous international conferences and was digital marketing judge at ADC*E in Barcelona, 2010. Gurney emphasized important tips in marketing in the digital age that companies must be aware of. Among these tips are web presence through a company website and advertising through advertising channels like Google Adsense. He said that content is king and any company’s website should have the proper and updated content that will help sell the company’s product and services as well as retain existing customers. He described a company website as the only employee in the company that works 24/7 without need for food, vacation and benefits. He also showed examples on using tools like Google Analytics and Adwords. Gurney also gave tips to the students on how to engage in freelance work through the Internet. After the talk, Gurney encouraged the participants to help promote a community effort he is working on in Anda by going to the website http://www.andakidz.org. During the forum, Auza.Net will give an overview on website management and would be an opportunity for the participants to learn and share ideas on Internet based marketing.
