The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) has recently announced that 947 out of 1,944 examinees passed the written phase of the Marine Deck Officers Licensure Examination for the various ranks given by the Board for Marine Deck Officers in Manila last February 2011. A total of 75 examinees have been exempted from taking the practical examinations as they opted to submit a Certificate of Training and Certificate of Assessment in the Ship Simulator and Bridge Teamwork (SSBT). Out of the many examiners, three Boholano hopefuls took home the bacon by landing in the top ten for the Officer – in- Charge examination with Edwin Tablon Sagaral placing first, Neil Dennis Saludes Jamero, 7th and Roldan Galon Bolongaita, 10th placer. As per order given by the Department of Interior and Local Governance, various local governments have started developing their own websites to allow greater transparency. Websites can provide free information and worldwide advertising for LGU’s. This is especially convenient for municipalities that have tourist spots to promote; not only will the website allow easier access to public information, it can also market the sights and sounds unique to the municipality. Dauis and Sikatuna have tapped Auza.Net for their websites, and both can now be viewed at http://www.dauis-bohol.gov.ph/ and http://www.sikatunabohol.gov.ph/ respectively. Other loal government units have already availed of this service too, and are up and coming.
