Motorola Takes Customization To the Next Level with Moto X

Motorola is trying to come back as a major player in the mobile phone industry with its latest flagship product called Moto X. The company invented the cell phone but failed to keep the lead. It was acquired by Google in 2012 for $12.5B and has since introduced a few mobile handsets before the Moto X was introduced. Customization is the main message for Moto X. In the US, customers can select colors for the front cover, the back cover, the accents and the charger. You can also specify a short message to be printed on the back cover. Storage size can be 16GB or 32GB. This is in sharp contrast to iPhone and Galaxy S product lines which are available only in a few colors (black and white in most areas). To order a personalized unit, the customer uses Moto Maker to specify the exact options from a few thousand combinations. After the order is completed, the unit is assembled at a Texas facility and will be shipped within 4 days. Moto X will be first available under AT&T in the US. Moto X also include the ability to control the phone via voice commands without the need to touch the device. Also the camera can be activated by a flick of the wrist. The hardware include a 4.7” AMOLED display, 2200mAh battery good for 24 hours mixed use, 10 megapixel rear camera, 2 megapixel front camera, Android 4.2.2 operating system, 2 GB of RAM and option for 16GB or 32GB storage. It has 2 years subscription for 50GB storage on Google Drive, WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G and LTE....

Cloud Servers Solves Problems for Multi-branch Companies

Cloud Servers Solves Problems for Multi-branch Companies

As more and more companies adapt online systems interconnecting multiple branches to the main office, keeping the uptime of the servers and the Internet connections become a burden to the information technology or IT staff. Power failures and Internet service interruptions happen more frequently than we like and every time the main office connection or the servers are down, all branches could not transact. Commonly misunderstood is the requirement at the main office which is a large upload bandwidth rather than download. The reason for this is that the main office is accessed by the branch offices and therefore is sending data. Sending data for multiple branches require a large upload bandwidth. Internet service normally have a small upload bandwidth compared to the download bandwidth usually at the ratio between 1:10 to 2.5:10. This is not sufficient if the main office is supporting many branches. Large upload bandwidth is normally available only via leased line subscriptions which are quite expensive, starting from around Php16,000 for a 2MB subscription. Leased line subscriptions have 1:1 ratio of upload and download bandwidth. Also, the bandwidth is guaranteed. But again, this is very expensive. A relatively new solution is to use cloud servers. Cloud servers are hardware agnostic and can be subscribed in small increments, usually based on RAM size and storage capacity. Data centers can deploy cloud servers in a few minutes and the servers may be resized as needed. Using a cloud server eliminates the need to maintain servers locally and subscribe to expensive leased line subscriptions. Data centers offering cloud server subscriptions have redundant power systems and multiple load balancing...

DYRD-AM Worldwide Broadcast Now On Its 6th Year

The partnership of Bohol Chronicle Radio Corporation and Auza.Net is going strong on the 6th year anniversary of the DYRD-AM Worldwide broadcast. Mr. Peter Dejaresco of Bohol Chronicle Radio Corporation and Jerome Auza of Auza.Net formally announced the partnership on the same date. Several improvements to the broadcast quality and reliability have been implemented since 2007. Now the system audio is very clear and multiple servers are implemented to enable a larger number of simultaneous listeners. Recorded broadcast splicing is automated and has been quite reliable for the past several months. Last year, an Android App was released to enable mobile users using the Android platform to listen to the live broadcast conveniently. Majority of the listeners are from the US and the Philippines, followed by Canada and Saudi Arabia and Australia. This information also reflects where most of the Boholanos abroad are based. Starting in the middle of 2012 to the present, the number of users who visit the www.dyrdam.com website has gradually increased, as can be seen in the Audience Overview graph. This is due to the increased capacity of the streaming servers and the improved audio quality implemented last year.
