After so many “leaks” of the features of the upcoming Galaxy S4, Samsung fans finally got a glimpse of the latest iteration of the Galaxy S series of smart phones. The upgraded features did not disappoint most reviewers. The case and location of the home button of the S4 looks very similar to the S3 but the S4 is lighter and thinner. It also has a larger battery capacity at 2600mAH vs 2100mAH on the older unit providing the extra juice for its slightly larger 5” 1080pixel screen and 8-core CPU (some markets may only have 4-core CPUs). Yes, that’s 8 microprocessors on this smartphone. Your regular desktop computer most likely will have less CPU cores. A 13 megapixel rear camera and 2 megapixel camera on the front and the camera software allows you to use both cameras simultaneously. That might come in handy if you pretend to take pictures of something in front of you but you are also taking a picture of someone behind you. I like the addition of an infrared blaster which means you can use the S4 as a remote control for your TV, DVD and even your aircon. This may just be the reason why I’ll get an S4 over an iPhone 5 when I upgrade my lowly but quite reliable Galaxy S mini at the end of the telco contract. Auza.Net will start accepting Summer 2013 OJT (on-the-job training) Program applicants on March 11 until April 5, 2013. The company has prepared a large web based project for the successful applicants which will help them learn about website development and maintenance, as well as data collection and validation. Google Apps and Google Maps will be used extensively also. The OJT program this year is geared towards giving the trainees an experience in doing IT jobs with a geographically spread out team members. This type of working environment is becoming popular in IT because of the global nature of large companies. The trainees will have a dedicated office complete with Internet connection via a local area network with structured cabling and WiFi. Auza.Net will also assign a full-time training coordinator to help the trainees get the most out of the program. The company needs around 20 trainees for the summer program. Trainees may be homebased as long as they have access to a computer and the Internet everyday. They are required to report to the OJT headquarters at least once a week. The selection process will include a review of qualifications based on the resume and application letter, an interview and matching of current skills and the tasks to be done. Just little more than three months to go before the 2013 elections and people are getting into the reliability of the famous PCOS machines to be used to count the ballots. Information technology, represented by the PCOS machines, is hoped to enable a successful election. But there are issues raised that might results to massive cheating and fraud. Some people say the PCOS machine results can be altered while being transmitted. While this is technically possible but it does not mean that the election officials and everybody else who know the results coming out of the machine would keep quiet if the results they transmitted for counting at the headquarters do not match their transmission. For someone planning to cheat on the results, this is not the right approach. Even if the method is so advanced, this can be detected very easily by humans since the results are posted in a publicly accessible website. We’ve heard some concerns raised that the machines can be programmed to favor a certain candidate. This is also technically possible but the random manual count can detect this. Also omeone has to have the resources (financial mostly) to be able to coordinate the favorable programming and ensure that the random manual count does not catch this. Auza.Net held a website management forum on February 23, 2013 at 1:00pm – 4:00pm at the JJ’s Seafood Village. The forum was attended mostly by the company’s customers and some guests. Jerome Auza, the technology consultant of Auza.Net, presented the components of the company’s website management service which included the technology used, the internal tools used by Auza.Net and the tools like Google Analytics that the customers can use to manage their websites. Most of Auza.Net hosted websites are implemented using the WordPress content management system and Mr. Auza demonstrated the procedure to update websites. He emphasized that updating content using WordPress is easy but the website owner needs to come up with good original content for the website. He also suggested that companies should utilize content writers if they are too busy to generate their own content. Mr. Auza also presented an introduction to Internet marketing and encouraged the participants to utilize their websites to help sell their products and services. He also mentioned that in managing websites, it is very important to measure results and among the best tools that are available today is Google Analytics.
