The Auza.Net Summer OJT Program will start on Monday, April 8, 2013 at 9AM at the Auza.Net office at Room 1, K of C Building, K of C Drive, Tagbilaran City, Bohol. The first day will be spent on orientation, group assignments and some paperwork. The trainees who qualified for the program will get to experience a real-world commercial website project that will help Bohol’s small and medium enterprises to get an online presence for free while allowing them to update company information and advertise their products and services at a minimal fee. The trainees will be involved in content development, marketing, customer service and sales. On top of that, they will get hands-on training on website development, programming using PHP and MySQL and wired and wireless networks. When the program is completed, the trainees will have the skills and experience that should help them with their future jobs or business ventures. Historically, Auza.Net OJTs easily find jobs after graduation because the OJT experience help them develop the skills they need for their preferred career path. Due to an increase in the projected work for the OJTs, applications will still be accepted until April 12, 2013....

Smartphones with data plans are getting popular and one of the useful features of mobile phones is the ability to read QR Codes using apps like Google Goggles. A QR code is a two dimensional image that has a pattern made up of small squares. It is similar to a bar code that is used in supermarkets to look up the price of the item you are buying. QR code is short for quick response code and this technology was developed by an automotive factory to help it manage inventory of parts in the production line. It has since gained popularity with mobile devices because it can store hundreds of characters in one image. The Goggles app can interpret the characters and will show the user a URL to the website represented by the QR code. Companies with websites should take advantage of this feature because it helps the smartphone user quickly go to a website showing a promotion or useful information about the company. The user doesn’t have to type all the characters. Imagine a potential customer passing by your store and sees a promo on the door. Because he is in a hurry, he scans the QR code at your store window and plans to read the information on your website at a later time. Interested in how a QR code works? Try this QR code for the Bohol.Info website: Ads: Scanning service Ad or the Article about scanning service. These job positions are available for review on http://jobs.bohol.info....

We are all familiar with smart phones. But what’s the next gadget that should be “smart”? It might just be your watch. The three biggest names in the smart phone industry, Apple, Samsung and Google either officially announced they are working on smart watches or are rumored to announce smart watches later this year. There has been little detail on the features that the smart watch might have but an obvious feature would be that it will act as an extension to the smart phone. Imagine looking at your smart watch and you will also know that you have new emails and text messages. Or even Facebook notifications. A feature I would like smart watches to have is a very convenient way to see the time from different timezones quickly. I work with people in different timezones so this feature would be important to me. But we should not expect being able to send text messages over your smart watch otherwise, they’d be too large. Battery life is very important so hopefully I don’t need to charge my smart watch every day. It becomes very inconvenient if one’s watch need frequent charging. Later this year, we should start seeing smart watches announced and released by Apple, Samsung and Google. Let’s hope this new device would prove to be an improvement to the regular watch. Share...
