Microsoft has officially revealed some of the key features of its forthcoming operating system. The new OS which may or may not be called Windows 8, has a completely different user interface. It takes inspiration mostly from the Windows Phone UI which puts a heavy emphasis on touch-based functionality. One of the most obvious design overhauls is on the Windows start menu. It has now been replaced with a colorful tiled design similar to the Exposé Screen of Firefox and other quick- screen-navigation system in most browsers. The colorful tiles however, do not display websites that have been visited, it instead displays static program icons and widgets that are called “live tiles” because they provide constant updates and notifications. Looking for files in the Windows 8 OS has also been made easier by allowing users to view their files in the same way as the programs are being viewed. It is easily navigated with touch alone since its development was primarily geared for tablets, but, it can be also used with a standard mouse and keyboard. The OS also maintained its ability to multi-task. Multiple applications can be viewed at the same time on the same screen by dragging and dropping the app window onto the main screen. It has also been optimized to work with the upcoming Internet Explorer 10. Overall, Windows 8 looks like a good development for Microsoft, it is however, still far from complete and a public release date is yet to be announced. Share...

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announces that 781 out of 1,388 passed the various grades of the written phase of the Marine Engineer Officer’s Licensure Examinations given by the Board for Marine Engineer Officers in Manila this May 2011. Meanwhile, another graduate of the Philippine Maritime Academy – Bohol has passed the recent Licensure Examination with flying colors. Angelito Bacolod Cordilla, landed 6th place in the Licensure Examination for Second Marine Engineer Officers. He tied with a fellow examinee in the person of Francis Cui Bernad from the Misamis Institute of Technology. Cordilla had the final average of 88. 25. This is highly recommended especially in places where there is really no WiFi signal in the first place, or when you are not likely to use it. 3. Turn off Blue-tooth. This is not just a battery life-saver tip, it also helps keep your phone secure by not being visible to other users. 4. Turn off push mails and notifications; avoid auto-checking lots of email accounts. This helps minimize the activities of your phone. After the first few minor assignments for Auza.Net’s trainees, they have now moved onto a more challenging project. Their creativity and wordpress skills are already being tested through the development of a website for a certain charitable organization. The trainees have been taken to the site of the organization for them to take a shot on photography. Photos were collected and then they were also taught how to properly enhance them for a better-looking website. At this point, the trainees are being handled by Auza.Net’s skilled website developers who are doing their best to impart their knowledge on the techniques and do’s and don’ts of the website – making market. Other than that challenge, the trainees are still expected to go on with their skills practices and self study on the earlier lessons which have been tackled. Share...
